Block Parties

Block Parties

Are you interested in organizing a block party for your neighborhood but are unsure of where to start? Neighborhood block parties serve as a great opportunity for neighbors to get to know each other and build relationships with others. And, since New Life Assembly of God exists to cultivate thriving relationships with God, families, and others, we want to help you connect with your neighbors in a fun, inviting, and impactful way.

Apply for your event with the city

The City of Janesville requires an application form to be submitted along with a $50 registration fee. You can download the city’s application here; or, if you prefer an online form, they have one available as well. Before New Life can provide materials and resources to you, we will need proof that your event is registered with the city.

As a part of the application, the Parks and Recreation department requires there to be a written statement indicating all affected residents have been contacted and that there are no objections to the closing of the street.

Likewise, they will ask for a map showing the affected area requested for the block party, including any intersecting streets. The City of Janesville will provide any necessary street barricades, but the event organizer must pick up and drop them off. All parties must conclude at dusk and barricades returned the following day.

For more information on hosting a block party in the City of Janesville, you can contact their offices at specialevents@ci.janesville.wi.us or by phone at 608-755-3030. They also have a planning guide available for download.

Let us know about your event

Now that you have your block party registered with the city, we want to provide some resources to you. The following items are available completely free for use at block parties hosted by a regular attender of New Life Assembly of God:

  • Bounce houses;
  • Dunk tank;
  • Tables (5) and chairs (30);
  • Portable sound system.

We will even drop them off and pick them up at your location. Once your event is registered, let us know about it by sending an email to info@nlag.net or by giving us a call at 608-756-4175. We will need proof of registration with the city, the location of the event, and the resources you desire to use!

What are you waiting for? Let’s start planning that block party!
