The early 15th century German theologian and author Thomas a’ Kempis once said, “Whoever loves much, does much.” Jesus spoke a great deal about love, and He modeled even more. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it is a helpful time of the year for us to remember and focus in on God’s command and our purpose to love one another deeply.
As a church, we have embraced God’s call to “build thriving relationships with God, family, and others” as our practical way of obeying His purposes for us and to daily remember the importance of our relationships.
Every relationship we have in life impacts each of our other relationships. We can deny and ignore that truth, but it doesn’t change the Biblical reality that it is true. That is why we need to first focus on our relationship with God, and from that strength and anchoring relationship, love our family as God’s Word instructs us to.
