“I love missions.” – God
Ok, so He may not have used those words, but that is certainly His heart throughout the Gospels. God loves people coming to know Him, and He loves it when we obediently share His love with those who need to know Him. But, what is love?
At first, that may seem like a simple question, but when we look at how “God so loved the world…” and how Paul describes love in the “Love Chapter” to the Corinthian church, we may begin to wonder if we truly understand love.
If there were a hall of fame for missionaries, Hudson Taylor would certainly be inducted on the first ballot. Why? Because he loved missions, because he loved the lost, because he loved the Lord. He once wrote, “China is not to be won for Christ by quiet, ease-loving men and women… The stamp of men and women we need is such as will put Jesus, China, [and] souls first and foremost in everything and at every time—even life itself must be secondary.”
In this message, we kick off our fall series on “Emotions to Emojis,” beginning by looking at love. How fitting that it is also our Sunday to make our missions faith promises for the upcoming six months. Be in prayer for what God may have you give as we partner with Him to reach the ends of the world with the good news of Jesus Christ.
