Hello My Name Is James — Part Two

After a challenging introduction to his letter in chapter one, some might hope that James begins to take it easy on the twelve tribes scattered abroad in chapter two. Well, they don’t know James.

As we continue our 5-week series on the book of James we turn to what many consider to be the heart of this New Testament book of Proverbs, reconciling faith and deeds. James writes, “What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?” (James 2:14)

It is more than a rhetorical question; James honestly wants to know what good is it to claim to have faith in Christ but to not live it out. Thankfully, for us living nearly 2,000 years later, James answers his own question with some sound brotherly advice.
