An American author recently wrote, “A smart man makes a mistake, learns from it, and never makes that mistake again. But a wise man finds a smart man and learns from him how to avoid the mistake altogether.” We don’t know much about the lives of the Wise Men chronicled in the second chapter of Matthew’s Gospel, but we do know that they lived a life that led them to be remembered by the descriptive title. They not only lived a life that earned them the respect of others, but they made decisions on how to spend that life. Throughout this series, we will be learning from those decisions and see how they lived and see how we can apply their gifts to our lives. Much like Paul encouraged the church he founded in Corinth to “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ,” let us follow the examples of the Wise Men as they still seek, wait, believe, and live for Him.
